Is it normal to have pain after a filling?

I just got a tooth filling done yesterday, and today I'm still feeling some sensitivity and a dull ache in that tooth, especially when I bite. My dentist said it might be normal, but how long does this usually last? Is it normal to have pain after a filling?

I had severe pain after my last filling, which actually shot my blood pressure up due to the stress. Make sure you aren't ignoring your routine health checks, as dental pain can really disturb your peace and BP levels. Keep your diet simple, limit salt, and check in with your dentist if the throbbing continues.

It is completely normal to have some sensitivity or mild pain for 3-4 days after a deep filling. Just avoid very hot tea or ice-cold water for a week, and try chewing from the other side. If the pain doesn't go down or feels sharp when you bite, your filling might be slightly high and needs a quick trimming by the dentist.

I literally got a composite filling done last Friday and faced the same dull ache for three days. My dentist told me the nerve inside gets irritated from the drilling and takes some time to quiet down. I took a basic painkiller she prescribed, and today I feel absolutely no pain.

Listen, don't panic or keep touching that tooth with your tongue to check if it still hurts. Give it a day or two to settle down naturally because the tissue around it gets quite sore during the procedure. If it still hurts while sleeping, just call your dentist and get it adjusted, okay?

Please don't worry too much, some soreness is bound to happen after the doctor works on your tooth. Just take some warm water with salt and gently rinse your mouth. It should feel much better by tomorrow morning.

My dentist explained that if the cavity was deep, the drilling comes very close to the dental pulp, causing temporary inflammation called pulpitis. She mentioned that if this pain doesn't subside within a week, or if it turns into a constant throbbing, it might mean the nerve was already damaged and we might need a root canal instead.

Yes, mild sensitivity is quite common for a few days. Just make sure you don't brush too hard around that specific tooth right now.

Haan, thoda pain toh hota hi hai after the anesthesia wears off, tension mat lo. Just avoid eating solid stuff from that side for a couple of days, thik ho jayega na. Par agar dukhna badhta hi jaye, toh doctor ko dikha lena chahiye bina dery kiye.
