Is it bad to sleep on your back when pregnant?

I'm in my second trimester, and I usually prefer sleeping on my back. My doctor advised against it, but my husband thinks it's probably fine if I'm comfortable. Is it genuinely bad for the baby if I sleep on my back now?

Lying on your back for long periods during the second and third trimester can compress the main blood vessels. Try to practice side-lying Shavasana with a soft cushion supporting your belly. It helps in maintaining smooth breathing and deep relaxation.

Instead of buying those expensive 3,000 rupee pregnancy pillows, you can easily use two standard pillows you already have at home. Put one behind your back to prevent rolling over, and one between your knees. Save that money for the baby's upcoming vaccination costs.

When my wife was pregnant, her doctor strictly told us to keep her off her back after the fifth month. I became the designated 'pillow adjuster' at night. It's a small adjustment to make sure both mom and baby are getting proper blood circulation.

Your belly is basically a bowling ball right now, so gravity isn't going to make back-sleeping very comfortable anyway! Just tuck some pillows around you like a fortress so you don't roll over. Enjoy the crazy sleep positions while you can!

In our times, we were always told to sleep on our sides to keep the baby healthy. If you wake up on your back by mistake, don't worry or cry; your body naturally alerts you before any harm happens. Just turn to your left side and go back to sleep.

My elder sister is going through this right now and she was so stressed about waking up on her back! Her doctor told her not to worry because our bodies naturally make us shift if we feel uncomfortable or breathless.

My cousin faced bad backaches during her pregnancy because she kept trying to sleep flat on her back. Once she switched to side sleeping with a pillow under her bump, she felt immediate relief. Definitely try the side-sleeping posture.

Actually yaar, sleeping flat on the back can make you feel super dizzy because of the pressure on your veins. It's much better to sleep on your left side. Just get a long bolster to hug, it makes a huge difference!

Your body has incredible natural wisdom to protect your little one. Don't let fear disturb your sleep, as a peaceful mind is very important for the baby. Just sleep on your side, keep a positive heart, and let nature do its work.

Yes, sleeping flat on your back after 20 weeks is generally not recommended because the weight of the uterus can restrict blood flow. I used to wedge a firm pillow under my right hip so even if I lay back, I was at an angle. It works wonderfully.
