Is it bad to sleep all day?

During my holidays, I tend to sleep for a very long time, sometimes even most of the day. My parents say it's making me lazy and is unhealthy. Is sleeping all day actually bad for you?

Honestly, sometimes a long sleep is just what the body needs to reset! 😴 But if you are doing this daily, it might make you feel more sluggish. Try to get some sunlight in the morning to balance your cycle!

My grandmother always used to say that sleeping during the day takes away your energy for the next day. I felt very weak last year and slept constantly, so I consulted our family doctor who found my vitamin D was extremely low. Better to get a quick blood test done if this is happening regularly.

Sleep is good for health, but sleeping the whole day makes the body very lazy. Humare yahan kehte hain ki suraj dhalne se pehle thoda chalna chahiye. Try to sit outside in fresh air for sometime, you will feel much better.

Before you think of expensive sleep clinics or master health packages, just track your routine for a week. Sometimes it is just a basic deficiency which you can check with a simple CBC and thyroid panel for under 800 rupees. Plan your budget for a basic test first before worrying too much.

I went through a phase where I was sleeping 12-14 hours and still felt exhausted. It turned out to be mild anemia because of my skipped meals. Please take care of your diet and don't ignore this if it continues.

Sometimes heavy vegetarian meals loaded with simple carbs like white rice or maida during lunch can cause a major sugar crash, making you sleep all afternoon. Try adding more protein like paneer, sprouts, or dal to your meals to keep your energy levels steady throughout the day.

I used to panic thinking I have some major illness because I was sleeping through my weekends completely. Actually, it was just my body recovering from crazy office stress during the week. Don't worry, just rest up, but do see a doc if you feel weak even after sleeping.
