Is instant oatmeal ok for diabetics?

My doctor told me I have diabetes, and I need to watch my diet very carefully. I usually have instant oatmeal for breakfast. Is instant oatmeal okay for diabetics to eat, or does it have too much sugar or something?

My grandpa has diabetes and his doc told him to avoid instant oatmeal because it has a high glycemic index and spikes sugar quickly. Steel-cut oats are much safer.

Absolutely not recommended if you have high sugar. Instant oats are heavily processed. Stick to rolled oats or traditional daliya instead.

I was also wondering about this for my mother. Are the unflavored instant oats also bad, or is it just the flavored ones that have added sugar?

My son has type 1 diabetes and we noticed instant oats make his blood sugar shoot up very fast. We switched to rolled oats with some almonds and it is much more stable.

Instant oats are pre-cooked and digest too fast, causing rapid glucose release. Choose steel-cut oats or whole grains instead to keep your insulin levels stable.

They are convenient but honestly quite boring and spike your sugar like crazy. A nice vegetable daliya with ghee is much more satisfying and safer for diabetics.
