Is icy hot good for back pain?

My back has been bothering me a lot lately, especially after long hours of cooking and household chores. My daughter bought me some icy hot cream, saying it helps with muscle pain. Does it really work well for general back pain?

Icy Hot works well to temporarily block pain signals so you can move around, which my fitness coach says is good to avoid muscle freezing. I apply a little bit before doing some light mobility stretches. Just track how long the relief lasts, and don't use it right before a heavy workout as it might mask a real injury.

As a diabetic, I prefer topical creams like Icy Hot over oral pain killers because they don't impact my kidneys or blood sugar levels. It gives a nice, soothing sensation to a sore lower back. Just make sure your skin is healthy and has no open cuts or dryness before applying it.

I pulled a muscle in my lower back lifting a heavy suitcase last week. Applying a warm-cold gel similar to Icy Hot really helped to relax the muscle spasm so I could at least sleep comfortably. It took about three days of resting and applying the gel to feel completely normal again.

At my age, my back aches if I just sneeze too hard! Icy Hot is my absolute favorite smell nowadays, much to my wife's annoyance. It doesn't cure the wear and tear of fifty years, but the burning-cold sensation definitely helps me sit through my daily office calls.

Icy Hot is a decent temporary solution for backache, but chronic muscle pain can sometimes be linked to nutritional deficiencies. Make sure your diet has enough calcium, magnesium, and Vitamin D, which you can get from milk, paneer, and leafy greens, to help heal your muscles from within.
