Is ice good for back pain?

I pulled a muscle in my back while lifting something heavy. It's really painful. My mom said to put ice on it immediately. Is ice good for back pain, especially a fresh injury like this?

I get terrible lower back pain from sitting at my desk all day, and honestly, ice works wonders when it's a sudden, sharp ache. I just use a frozen pea bag wrapped in a towel for about 15 minutes. It really helps to numb the area so I can at least sit comfortably again.

Ice is a safe, drug-free way to handle minor back pain, which is great because we diabetics already have to take so many medicines. Just make sure you don't keep the ice on for too long if you have any diabetic numbness in your skin. Keep it to 10 minutes and always check the skin afterwards.

Yes, ice can be very helpful for a sore back, especially if you recently strained a muscle. Just lie down on your side comfortably and apply a cold pack wrapped in a cloth. I hope you find some relief soon.

I totally get it, back pain can absolutely ruin your entire day and make even standing up feel like a mountain of a task. Applying ice is really good for reducing the immediate muscle inflammation. Just rest your back on a firm surface while you do it, and take things very slow.

I just recovered from a nasty lower back spasm last week. In the first 48 hours, ice was my absolute savior because it stopped the sharp, biting pain. After two days, I switched to hot water fermentation to relax the tight muscles, and that combination worked perfectly for me.

Ice is good for local numbing of back pain, but please also look at your nutrition. Often, a lack of Vitamin D3 or B12 in vegetarian diets can cause weak muscles and chronic backaches. It's a good idea to eat fortified foods or consult a doctor about supplements along with using ice packs.
