Is homework bad for mental health?

My younger brother is always stressed about his school homework and it seems to affect his mood a lot. This made me think if it's really necessary. Is homework potentially bad for mental health, especially for kids?

I've been reading a lot about this lately, and it seems like it really depends on the quantity and quality of homework. If it's meaningful and not just busywork, it can be good for reinforcing learning. But if it's excessive, it definitely adds stress and anxiety for students. So complex, right?

Too much of anything is bad, even homework. If it's eating into sleep time or time for physical activity, then yeah, it's not great. Mental health benefits a lot from regular exercise and a good diet. Balance is important, just like in your workout routine.

For me, the sheer volume of homework in school often led to feeling completely burnt out and inadequate. It took away time for hobbies and just being a kid, which I think is so important for developing a healthy mind. It's not about learning, it's about coping sometimes.

Back in my day, homework was a ritual! But honestly, I think today's kids have it much tougher. So much pressure. If I had to do all that homework now, my BP would shoot up and I'd need a nap just thinking about it. Give the poor kids a break!

Based on my own experience, when I had too much homework, I definitely felt more stressed and anxious. It made it hard to concentrate and I felt constantly overwhelmed. I'm not a doc, but less pressure on kids seems like a good idea to me.

Sometimes I felt so overwhelmed with homework, especially when there were multiple tests and projects at once. It made me really anxious and I found it hard to relax. Does anyone else feel like too much homework just leads to burnout instead of actual learning?

Bad for mental health? More like bad for my sleep health! 😩 Seriously though, when I was in school, I remember staying up super late just to finish assignments. That definitely wasn't doing my brain any favors. We need sleep to function, guys!

Haan beta, if children are always studying and doing homework, then when will they play and talk to their friends? Too much burden is not good for anyone's mind. A little bit is fine, but happiness is also important.
