Is high prolactin a sign of cancer?

I've been having irregular periods and some other symptoms, and my doctor checked my prolactin levels which came back high. My mother immediately got worried and asked if this could be related to cancer. Is high prolactin really a sign of cancer?

I once had high prolactin and I was so scared after Googling everything! But my doctor told me it was due to stress and some medication I was on. It normalized after a while. So, while it's important to get it checked, it's not always the worst case. Just go to your doctor, they will guide you properly.

High prolactin usually means there's an issue with your pituitary gland, most often a benign tumor called a prolactinoma, which is not cancerous. It's something that needs to be managed, but often with medication. The practical solution is to consult an endocrinologist. They will do proper tests and suggest the right course of action.

Nah, not usually. High prolactin can be from stress, certain meds, or a tiny benign growth in your pituitary gland (called a prolactinoma) which is usually not cancerous. My friend had it and it was just a small, treatable issue. Don't panic and just see a doc.

Yaar, high prolactin mostly means a small non-cancerous growth on your pituitary gland, or sometimes even stress or meds. Actually, it's pretty common and usually treatable with medicines. So don't panic, but haan, see a specialist for sure.

High prolactin can be a bit worrying, but in most cases, it's not a sign of cancer. It's often due to a prolactinoma, which is usually a benign (non-cancerous) growth, or even stress, certain medications, or thyroid issues. So, it's super important to visit an endocrinologist to get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Don't self-diagnose!

I completely get that immediate jump to the worst conclusion when something's off with your health. High prolactin can be alarming, but it's rarely a sign of cancer. More often it's a non-cancerous pituitary tumor or other causes. The most important thing is to get it investigated by an endocrinologist. Don't let the anxiety consume you before you have answers.

High prolactin levels are a common finding and are typically caused by things like benign pituitary tumors (prolactinomas), certain medications, or even stress. While cancer is a very rare possibility, it's usually not the primary concern. Get an appointment with an endocrinologist, they'll guide you through the diagnosis and treatment options. It's manageable!
