Is high hemoglobin a sign of cancer?

My father had a blood test and his hemoglobin came back very high. He's a bit of a hypochondriac and is now convinced it's a sign of cancer. Can high hemoglobin actually be an indicator of cancer?

If high hemoglobin meant cancer, I think half the fitness buffs who eat tons of spinach would be worried! 😂 Kidding aside, usually it means your body is making too many red blood cells, which can be due to many things like dehydration or lung issues. Cancer is much lower on the list, but always see a doc!

My son also had high hemoglobin once, and I was so worried. But the doctor said it was just because he was slightly dehydrated and lived in a high altitude area for a while. They did some more tests to be sure, and everything was fine. So, get proper tests done and don't panic.

Another day, another Google search making us panic, eh? High hemoglobin usually means you're just very well-oxygenated, or maybe a bit dehydrated. Cancer is usually much further down the list of possibilities. Go see a doc, maybe they'll just tell you to drink more water and stop worrying like me.

Nah, not usually. High hemoglobin can mean a bunch of things, like living at high altitude, dehydration, or even smoking. Cancer is usually not the first thing docs think of. But yeah, get it checked out by a professional, don't just Google it and panic.

Yaar, usually high hemoglobin is not directly related to cancer. Actually, it could be something simple like dehydration or even polycythemia. But obviously, you should get proper medical advice. Don't trust Dr. Google for such things, consult a real doctor.

Ho na, high hemoglobin doesn't directly mean cancer. It can be for many reasons, like if you're not drinking enough water or maybe some lung condition. Just talk to your doctor, they will tell you exactly what it is. Don't worry too much, haan?
