Is heat good for tooth pain?

Woke up with a really bad toothache this morning, and it's making it hard to concentrate. My nani used to say to put something warm on your cheek. Is heat a good home remedy for tooth pain?

Honestly, don't try applying random heat or ice packs based on online advice. Tooth issues can get way worse if there is an underlying infection. It is always better to just book an appointment with a proper dentist and get an X-ray done to see what is actually wrong.

I am not very sure about this, but I have always heard people using cold packs instead of heat for facial pain. Does heat actually help or does it make the swelling worse? Please let me know if anyone has tried it because I am also having a mild ache since yesterday.

Dealing with chronic health issues has taught me that we should never ignore sudden pains. Just like I stay on top of my thyroid tests and specialist visits, you should get this tooth pain checked by a professional. Don't rely on temporary home fixes like heating pads when a proper dental exam is what you need.

When my son had a bad toothache last month, our doctor strictly told us not to apply heat on the cheek because it can increase blood flow and make the pain or infection worse. Cold compress is much safer to numb the area temporarily. Please take care and try to see a dentist soon.

I completely understand how stressful and scary dental pain can feel, especially when it keeps you up at night. Don't panic, it is highly treatable. Instead of experimenting with heat which might increase inflammation, just call a dentist tomorrow morning for peace of mind.

Oh man, tooth pain is the absolute worst because it totally ruins the joy of eating. I tried warm salt water rinses once when I couldn't bite into my favourite fish curry, and that gave some comfort. But definitely avoid direct heat on the outside, and get it checked so you can eat normally again soon!
