Is heat good for back pain?

I often get a stiff back after sitting for long hours. My physio suggested using a heating pad. Is heat really good for back pain?

At my age, my back behaves like an old diesel engine that needs heating to start! A warm gel pack really helps soothe the muscles after a long day of desk work, but if the pain is shooting down your leg, please go see a proper doctor.

Bro, if you strained your back lifting weights or sitting wrong, a hot water bag is amazing for relaxing those tight muscles. But if you just injured it today, use ice first to stop any swelling, and then switch to heat tomorrow.

I am experiencing lower back pain for the first time after a long bus journey. Is a simple heating belt safe to use, or should I wait and consult a doctor first?

Thermotherapy or applying heat is clinically proven to improve blood flow and relax muscle spasms in chronic back pain. However, if the pain persists for more than a week or is accompanied by numbness, you should immediately consult an orthopedic specialist.

I often get severe lower back pain during my cycles due to PCOS, and a warm heating pad is my savior. Just be careful not to use it on very high heat to avoid burning your skin, and do seek medical advice if the pain is constant.

My hypothyroid symptoms often include joint and back pain, and gentle heat therapy gives me temporary relief. But please get your thyroid levels and vitamin D3/B12 checked regularly, as deficiencies can also cause this stiffness. Keep in touch with your doctor.

Don't stress too much, back pain from sitting too long is super common! Just use a hot water bottle for 15 minutes, do some light stretching, and you'll feel much better. If it still hurts, just visit a doc, okay?
