Is hay fever the same as seasonal allergies?

Every spring and summer, I suffer from a blocked nose, itchy eyes, and sneezing spells. My doctor called it seasonal allergies, but my friends refer to it as hay fever. Are hay fever and seasonal allergies the exact same condition?

Haan ji, dono bilkul ek hi cheez hain. Jab mausam badalta hai aur khet me kaam hota hai, tab yeh sardi-khansi jaisa ho jata hai dhoor-mitti se. Hum toh ise badalta mausam ka asar hi kehte hain.

Yes, they are the same. My grandmother always tells me to drink warm pepper rasam when this seasonal allergy starts. But I still consult our family doctor for a proper nasal spray because Chennai dust can be very harsh.

Yes, it's the same seasonal allergy. The worst part is that when my nose gets blocked from hay fever, I can't even taste my favorite hot jalebis and samosas properly! Best to drink hot soup to open up those senses.

It is indeed the same seasonal allergy. Since I have thyroid issues, my immunity is sometimes low, and these allergies hit me harder. I always suggest keeping up with your regular doctor visits and blood tests to make sure your overall health is stable.

They are identical, but please don't ignore it thinking it's just a mild seasonal allergy. I ignored my continuous sneezing last year and it turned into a severe sinus infection that needed antibiotics. Get it checked by a doctor early.

Yes, hay fever is just another name for seasonal allergies. I face this every single year in October and March. Just keeping my room vacuumed and wearing a mask outside makes a huge difference, honestly.
