Is hard liquor worse than beer for your liver?

My friends and I often drink on weekends, and some prefer hard liquor while others stick to beer. Someone told me that hard liquor is worse for your liver than beer. Is this true, or is alcohol just bad in general?

My father always said any form of alcohol is bad, but my doctor cleared it up that it's about the total volume of alcohol you drink, not just the type. Drinking high amounts of beer can damage your liver just as badly as hard liquor.

I had elevated liver enzymes last year. Your liver doesn't care if the alcohol comes from whiskey or beer; it has to process the same toxin. The best tip is to stop drinking completely and do a Liver Function Test to know your actual standing.

Both are equally bad if consumed regularly. Alcohol slows down fat burning and damages liver cells. Focus on daily cardio, drink lots of water, and cut down on alcohol entirely to let your liver recover.

Both are bad, yaar. People think beer is safe because of low alcohol percentage, but they end up drinking five pints of it, which is actually the same amount of alcohol as three pegs of whiskey. Your liver suffers either way.

I completely understand the anxiety of worrying about liver damage, it can be very scary. Honestly, both hard liquor and beer strain the liver. Getting a simple ultrasound and LFT done will help ease your mind.
