Is hand foot and mouth contagious without fever?

My little one has developed these rashes on her hands and feet, and some near her mouth, but she doesn't have a fever. Someone from the playgroup mentioned hand, foot, and mouth disease. I'm wondering if it's still contagious even without fever, because I have a newborn at home too.

My son has blisters on his hand but no fever at all, and I am so stressed. Has anyone else's child had this without a temperature? Is it still safe to send them to school after a week?

Yes, HFMD is highly contagious even if there is no fever. The virus spreads through saliva and blister fluid, so please consult a pediatrician immediately to get proper guidance on isolation.

Yes, it is absolutely contagious. Even without fever, the blisters can easily spread the virus to other kids.

Kids' viruses don't follow any rules! Even if there is no fever, those little blisters are viral bomb shelters ready to spread. Keep them quarantined unless you want the whole neighborhood's kids staying home too.

My toddler just recovered from this last week. He never had any fever, just mild spots, but his playgroup friend got it from him within two days. Definitely keep them at home.

Yes, it is very contagious even without fever. Keep the child isolated until all the blisters dry up completely.

It is highly contagious, so keeping them home is the cheapest way to avoid doctor visits for other kids. Don't worry about expensive tests, just isolate the child and use basic calamine lotion for the rash.
