Is haemophilus b the same as hepatitis b?

My baby got a shot today, and the doc mentioned 'Haemophilus B'. I remember hearing about 'Hepatitis B' for newborns also, so I was wondering if they are the same thing? Thoda confusion ho raha hai.

Nahi bhai, bilkul same nahi hai dono. Haemophilus b ek bacteria hai jo pneumonia ya meningitis karta hai aur Hepatitis b ek virus hai jo liver ko damage karta hai. Haan, dono ke vaccines lagte hain bachpan mein par bimariyan alag hain na.

Oh god, even I got so confused when the doctor mentioned these two names last week. I literally spent the whole night searching online and got so scared thinking they are the same dangerous thing. Did anyone else also get super stressed about these vaccine names?

They are totally different medical issues altogether. Since I deal with thyroid problems, I know how important it is to get proper blood tests and follow up with the doctor regularly. Don't guess these things, get the right tests done if you have any symptoms.

I always go to Apollo for my kid's vaccination and they give a proper chart explaining everything. Don't rely on internet search for these medical terms. Just ask your pediatrician directly to clear the confusion in your next visit.

As a mother of a 2-year-old, I also had this exact same doubt during his vaccination schedule. Hib vaccine protects against brain and chest infections while Hep B is for the liver. Check your child's vaccination card, both will be listed separately there.
