Is green tea good for type 2 diabetes?

My father has type 2 diabetes, and we are constantly looking for ways to keep his sugar levels in check. I heard green tea can be beneficial. Is green tea good for type 2 diabetes, or is it better to avoid it?

My dad has type 2 diabetes and he drinks green tea every single morning because he read it is good. I think it is mostly just a replacement for his sweet chai habit, which actually helps him cut down on sugar. It's cool as long as you don't add honey or sugar to it.

I managed to reverse my prediabetes recently through strict lifestyle changes. Green tea was a nice calorie-free beverage that helped me stay away from soft drinks and juice, but my real savior was daily walking and cutting out white rice. Don't rely on tea alone; monitor your HbA1c levels regularly under a doctor's care.

Honestly, I drink green tea just to stay awake through my night shifts, but my uncle swears it helps his blood sugar levels. Personally, I think any sugar-free drink is great for diabetes because it stops you from reaching for biscuits. Just don't ask me to drink it without complaining about the bitter taste!

I have been managing type 2 diabetes for over ten years now. Green tea has good antioxidants that support general metabolism, but it is not a replacement for your metformin or insulin. Focus on portion control, check your fasting sugar weekly, and consult your doctor before changing your diet plan.

As a hardcore foodie, giving up my sweet cutting chai for green tea was a nightmare when my sugar levels went up. But actually, once you get used to the earthy taste, it is quite refreshing after a heavy, low-carb meal. It keeps you from craving dessert, which is the biggest win for any diabetic!
