Honestly, I was craving mangoes so badly last summer but my sugars were erratic. My dietitian allowed me to have raw green mango (kacha aam) in small portions because it has much less sugar and a lower GI than sweet ripe mangoes. It didn't spike my levels at all when eaten as a simple pickle or salad.
Green mango has a lower glycemic index and contains more pectin and vitamin C than ripe mangoes. If you make it at home, use stevia or eat the raw slices with a pinch of salt and roasted cumin.

Raw mango is very affordable and a great low-sugar option during the season. Just make sure you don't buy the expensive sugar-free aam panna bottles from stores, they are a waste of money. Just boil it at home with salt, it costs next to nothing and is much healthier.

I've been up since 3 AM with my crying baby, so my brain is fried, but I know this much: raw mango won't hurt your diabetes as long as you aren't dipping it in sugar. Just eat a slice with some salt and red chili powder. It's sour enough to wake up even my sleepy brain!
