Is gout a sign of kidney disease?

My friend has really bad gout attacks, and he keeps saying it's a sign his kidneys aren't working right. Can gout actually be a sign of kidney disease? Just wondering if it's true or just a myth.

No, gout is primarily a painful joint condition. Regular hydration and simple breathing exercises like Kapalbhati can support overall digestion and detoxification, but do get your regular clinical checkups done.

Do not trust random internet forums saying your kidneys are failing just because you have gout. Gout is joint arthritis, and while kidney efficiency plays a role, only a proper blood and urine test by a doctor can diagnose kidney disease.

I totally get it, worrying about kidney disease on top of painful joint flares is incredibly stressful. Gout is actually just a joint issue, and with proper diet adjustments, it is highly manageable. Stay strong.

Gout isn't a direct sign of kidney disease, but high levels of uric acid can strain the kidneys over time. For peace of mind and safety, please consult a physician and get your creatinine levels tested.

Not necessarily. Gout is caused by high uric acid building crystals in joints. I track my biometric data, and while there is a statistical link between chronic gout and kidney strain, they are two separate issues. Get a routine KFT panel to be sure.

I have been having terrible toe pain from gout and now I am terrified reading that it might be connected to my kidneys. Has anyone else with gout gotten their kidneys checked? Were your reports normal?

Gout is a joint inflammation problem, not kidney disease, though metabolic issues can sometimes link them. Since I manage PCOS, I know how confusing connected symptoms can be, so keeping a regular check on your health markers is always helpful.

My father went to a nephrologist at Max hospital for his gout issues. The doctor explained that while gout is a joint problem, poor kidney function can cause uric acid to build up. It is best to ask a specialist to examine your reports clearly.
