Is glycolic acid good for eczema?
My son has eczema and his skin is very dry and irritated. I heard that glycolic acid can be good for skin conditions. Is it safe and effective for eczema, or should I avoid it?

Glycolic acid is a strong chemical exfoliant and can be highly irritating for eczema-prone skin. It is much safer to avoid harsh acids and focus on hydrating the skin naturally from inside and out.
Eczema means your skin barrier is already compromised. Applying glycolic acid can cause severe chemical burns. When I went to Ramachandra Hospital, the dermatologist strictly advised against using any AHA/BHA during eczema flares. Please ask your doctor clearly.
In my experience, harsh chemicals only aggravate sensitive skin conditions. Gentle cooling therapies and deep breathing pranayama to reduce stress work much better for soothing eczema flare-ups naturally.
Oh, please avoid glycolic acid on eczema! 🛑 It is way too strong and will sting like crazy on broken skin. Stick to very gentle, plain moisturizers instead!
Bhai, don't put these strong English chemical waters on your skin disease. Eczema needs cool and soft things. Plain ghee or coconut oil will give you much better relief.
I have tried so many things for eczema, and I can tell you that strong acids are a big no. Even simple homemade remedies can sometimes irritate, but pure virgin coconut oil is far safer than glycolic acid.

Beta, in my long experience, these modern chemical peeling solutions do not suit sensitive skin like eczema. Simple, time-tested moisturizers and keeping the skin clean are all you need.
I made the mistake of putting a glycolic acid serum on my dry eczema patch last month, and it turned extremely red and started burning. I had to use a soothing prescription cream to heal it. Avoid it completely.
