Is gluten free good for diabetics?

My sugar levels have been a bit high, and my doctor advised me to watch my diet. I've heard a lot about going gluten-free. Is it really good for diabetics, or is it more for people with gluten sensitivity?

I totally get it, managing diabetes is so overwhelming with all this conflicting advice on the internet. Gluten-free isn't actually a cure or even better for sugar unless you have a stomach allergy to wheat. Just focus on low-carb foods.

Actually yaar, gluten-free is mostly a marketing gimmick for diabetics. Those packaged gluten-free biscuits have so much starch and sugar to make them taste normal. It's better to avoid them.

I am quite new to this as my dad was just diagnosed. Does gluten-free diet mean we have to stop giving him simple homemade wheat rotis completely? Any simple advice would help.

I know how scary it is when you get diagnosed and you feel like you can't eat anything safe anymore. I also looked into gluten-free diets out of fear, but realized simple portion control of normal food is much safer and less stressful.

Gluten-free won't do much for your insulin sensitivity on its own. Focus on eating high protein, high fiber, and doing at least some resistance training or daily brisk walking to manage your sugar levels.

When I consulted the senior diabetologist at Apollo, they told me specifically that gluten-free is not recommended for diabetic management unless celiac disease is present. Please ask your doctor clearly before changing your food habits.

With my busy work schedule, I don't have time for complicated meal preps. I found that gluten-free diets are hard to sustain and unnecessary for diabetes. Just cut down on white rice and refined flour, it's much more practical.
