Is fatty liver hereditary?

My father has fatty liver, and now my brother also got diagnosed with it. It makes me wonder if there's a genetic link. Is fatty liver hereditary, or is it purely lifestyle-related?

While lifestyle is a major contributor, there can be a genetic predisposition, meaning some families might be more prone. It's not a direct inheritance like some genetic disorders. If there's a family history of metabolic issues, it's wise to be extra careful and get regular check-ups.

See, sometimes things run in families, like tendencies towards certain health issues. My father had diabetes, and I also got it later. Fatty liver can be like that; you might be more prone if your family has metabolic conditions. But it's not a fate, you can always take care through diet and exercise.

It's more often due to lifestyle, but sometimes family history of related issues like obesity or diabetes can make you more susceptible. While you can do many things at home like healthy eating, if you have a strong family history, it's very important to consult a doctor and not just rely on home remedies alone.

Hey yaar, don't stress too much thinking it's all genetics! While some people might have a genetic predisposition, most of it is still about lifestyle choices like what you eat and how much you move. So you have a lot of control over it. Just focus on healthy habits.
