Is facet joint arthritis serious?

My father was recently diagnosed with facet joint arthritis in his back, and he's in a lot of pain. We're trying to understand how serious this condition is and what to expect in terms of treatment and long-term care. Is it something that can get very bad?

While facet joint arthritis causes chronic back pain, it is not life-threatening. However, you should consult an orthopedist to manage the pain effectively.

Beta, joint wear and tear is a natural part of growing older, but we must handle it carefully. Gentle heat fermentation and avoiding heavy lifting can give great relief at home. Please see a good doctor to guide you on safe exercises.

It can cause annoying stiffness, but keeping your core muscles strong is the best way to support your spine. If your doctor allows, light swimming or specific physiotherapy exercises can drastically reduce the pressure on your facet joints.

Please don't ignore spine pain; I delayed treatment and it led to severe nerve compression and numbness in my legs. Get a proper MRI done and consult a spine specialist early to prevent complications.

My dad has this and honestly, it just seems to make his back super stiff when he sits for too long. He goes for regular physiotherapy and is doing totally fine now, so don't stress too much!
