Is exfoliating good for eczema?

I have patches of eczema on my hands and they can get quite dry and flaky. I've heard that exfoliating helps with dead skin, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea for eczema-prone skin. Will exfoliating make it worse or better?

Yaar, please don't use those harsh scrubs on eczema, it will completely ruin your skin barrier! Just stick to mild, soap-free cleansers and heavy moisturizers. Don't stress too much, your skin will heal once you let it rest.

Actually, I tried exfoliating my dry patches last month and my skin turned bright red and started burning like crazy. Has anyone else experienced severe itching after trying to scrub off the flaky skin? I am honestly too scared to touch my face now.

I have struggled with eczema on my hands for years and tried everything from besan to oatmeal baths. Honestly, physical scrubbing is a big no-no because it causes micro-tears in already weak skin. Just soak in a warm colloidal oatmeal bath instead, it works wonders without any irritation.

I was recently told I might have eczema on my elbows, and I am still trying to understand what products to avoid. Is it safe to use even a very soft cloth to wash the area, or should I just use my hands? I don't want to make the redness worse.

Skin issues are often linked to internal stress and lifestyle, just like my blood pressure fluctuations. Instead of experimenting with scrubs which can cause infections, please consult a dermatologist. Getting a proper checkup is always better than trying random salon treatments.
