Is exercise good for sciatica pain?

I've been suffering from sciatica pain for a few months now, it really shoots down my leg. My physiotherapist has given me some stretches, but I'm wondering about general exercise. Is exercise beneficial for sciatica pain, or should I be very careful?

Please be extremely careful because the wrong stretch can pinch your sciatic nerve even more. I tried random back exercises without guidance and ended up bedridden with severe nerve pain. You must see a proper spine specialist or physiologist before attempting any exercise.

Sitting at my desk all day made my sciatica unbearable, but doing specific nerve-flossing exercises for just 10 minutes a day brought major relief. Don't waste time on long workout sessions. Just do 2 or 3 core-strengthening moves prescribed by a professional during your office breaks.

The body has its own way of healing when we treat it with patience and positivity. Light walking and gentle hamstring stretches can help ease the nerve tension. Keep a calm mind, take care of your posture, and let the healing happen gradually with medical guidance.

I am experiencing this shooting pain down my left leg and I am terrified to even bend. My doctor suggested mild exercises, but does anyone else feel scared that they might worsen the nerve pinch? Please let me know how you built up your confidence to move.

Hey, don't stress too much about it! Sciatica is very painful but highly manageable. Gentle exercises like the pigeon pose or simple knee-to-chest stretches can work wonders. Just take it very easy, don't force any painful moves, and talk to your physiotherapist.

Do not follow random back stretches on social media, as sciatica can be caused by a herniated disc or piriformis syndrome, and both require totally different movements. Doing the wrong stretch can land you in the OT. Verify with a certified orthopedic doctor first.
