Is exercise good for rheumatoid arthritis?

My mother has rheumatoid arthritis, and her joints get very stiff and painful. Sometimes she's afraid to move much because of the pain. Is it true that certain exercises can actually be good for rheumatoid arthritis, or should she just rest?

Managing high BP and joint pain taught me that overall lifestyle changes are crucial. Gentle exercise is beneficial for RA as it keeps joints flexible, but you must monitor your inflammation levels. Get regular blood checkups to track your rheumatoid factor and CRP before starting any heavy routine.

I panicked completely when I was diagnosed with RA and thought I would never be able to move properly again. But doing low-impact exercises like swimming and gentle stretches actually reduced my pain and morning stiffness. It takes time, but your body will adapt beautifully.

I visit a reputed rheumatology clinic in Mumbai, and my doctor clearly explained that customized physical therapy is vital for RA management. You should never follow generic internet exercise videos. Ask your doctor for a tailored physiotherapy plan to avoid joint damage.

I completely understand how scary an RA diagnosis can be. Gentle joint-friendly exercises like yoga or stationary cycling are highly recommended to prevent joint deformity. Just listen to your body, take breaks on flare-up days, and always keep your rheumatologist in the loop.

My aunt has RA and she swears by daily gentle hand and leg stretches. When she stops moving, her joint stiffness gets way worse. Just don't push through severe pain; if a joint is swollen and hot, rest it and consult your doctor.
