Is excessive wind a sign of cancer?

My grandfather has been passing a lot of wind, more than usual, and he's also lost some weight lately. My uncle mentioned he read something online about excessive wind being a possible sign of cancer. Should we be worried about this?

I was reading about bloating online and got really scared seeing such serious terms. Is it common for simple gas to feel very painful in the stomach, or should I be worried about something big? I am new to this and a bit nervous.

I had constant severe gas and bloating for almost six months and feared the worst. It turned out to be simple lactose intolerance and IBS. Once I stopped dairy and managed my diet, the wind resolved completely, but checking with a doctor is always best.

Excessive flatulence is almost always linked to gut microbiome imbalance, food intolerances, or fiber intake. You can log your daily meals in a health app to track what triggers it. However, if you see unexplained weight loss or blood in stool, consult a gastroenterologist immediately.

Beta, please don't get scared reading big words on the internet. Mostly it is just due to heavy food, dal, or indigestion. Drink some warm water with ajwain, but if the pain continues, go to the local clinic and let the doctor check your stomach.

My doctor clarified that while colon cancer can occasionally cause changes in bowel habits and gas, excessive wind alone is very rarely a sign of malignancy. It is typically due to IBS, diet, or bacterial overgrowth. However, any persistent change accompanied by fatigue or blood requires proper screening.
