Is excessive sweating a sign of diabetes?

My mother has started sweating profusely even when it's not hot or she hasn't done any physical activity. Her sister has diabetes, so we are a bit concerned. Could excessive sweating be a sign of diabetes?

It can be diabetes, thyroid, or just general hyperhidrosis. You can't diagnose this on a forum. Go to a reputed lab, book an annual health checkup package, and show the reports to a general physician. That is the only logical way to handle this.

Excessive sweating can indeed be a sign of diabetes, especially when your blood sugar drops too low. I ignored these sudden cold sweats for months until my condition got very bad. Please go get your fasting blood sugar and HbA1c checked by a proper doctor immediately.

Instead of worrying at home, just buy a basic glucometer or visit the local chemist to test your random blood sugar. It takes just two minutes and costs very little. If the reading is high, then book a proper lab test and see a doctor.

If it is pre-diabetes, improving your physical activity can make a huge difference. If your doctor permits, try adding 40 minutes of moderate walking to your daily routine. Staying hydrated is also key, but please rule out any medical conditions with a blood test first.

While excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) is sometimes linked to diabetic autonomic neuropathy or hypoglycemia, it has many other benign causes as well. A clinical evaluation is absolutely essential to narrow it down. I highly recommend consulting an endocrinologist or physician for an accurate diagnosis.

Haan na, sweating can make you so uncomfortable and worried. Sometimes it is just because of hormonal changes or summer heat, but sugar level fluctuate hone se bhi sweating hoti hai. A safety checkup with your family doctor is best, ho na?

Excuse me, I have also been sweating a lot lately even when it is not very hot. Does anyone know if this is also accompanied by feeling very thirsty? I am a bit scared to go to the doctor alone.

Yes, sudden sweating can be a sign of low blood sugar. It is best to get a quick blood test done.

I am not a doctor, but I also had sudden heavy sweating spells last year. In my case, it turned out to be related to my thyroid levels rather than diabetes. Getting a full blood panel really helped me find the right treatment.

I used to sweat like crazy even under the AC, and my mom got worried it was diabetes since my dad has it. Got my blood test done and everything was totally normal, turns out I just have a high metabolism. Definitely get tested once to clear your mind.
