Is endometrial cancer hereditary?

My sister was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, and I'm quite concerned about my own health now. Is this type of cancer hereditary? Should I be getting checked more regularly?

My mom went through this last year. Her doc said mostly it happens due to hormonal imbalance and weight issues, not always genetic. But he still asked about our family history of cancers just to be safe.

Honestly I was reading about this yesterday only because my aunt got diagnosed. It seems most cases are not inherited, but there is some genetic link like Lynch syndrome that can run in families. If you are worried, looking at family history of colon or uterine issues helps.

I log all my symptoms on my tracker app and keep reading about hormonal health. Yes, a small percentage can be hereditary if there is a history of Lynch syndrome. But lifestyle factors like obesity and high estrogen levels actually play a much bigger role.

Even if there is some family link, maintaining a clean diet is key to keeping estrogen levels in check. I try to avoid processed foods and stick to fresh organic veggies to lower overall risk. Definitely consult a specialist to understand your genetic risks better.

Actually we had a seminar on this recently in college. It is not always passed down, only about 5 percent of cases are genetic. Most of the time it is just random hormonal changes as people get older.

That is absolutely correct. It is always better to map your family's health history and share it with your family doctor during routine checkups.

Please do not depend on internet searches for something so serious. If you have a family history of cancers, go to a proper gynaecologist and ask for genetic testing. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

Arre chill, just because your relative had it doesn't mean you automatically get it in your inheritance package! Yes, genes have some role, but so does stress. Don't Google too much and end up giving yourself a headache.
