Is eczema worse at night?

My skin gets really itchy, especially at night, which makes it hard to sleep properly. I've been told I have eczema, but I'm wondering if it's common for it to get worse once the evening sets in?

I know how awful it is to lie awake at 2 AM crying because of the scratching. Eczema definitely gets worse at night because our body's natural anti-inflammatory levels drop while sleeping. You are not alone in this, hang in there.

In my experience, the silence of the night makes you focus more on the itching, which makes it feel ten times worse. I found that wearing light cotton gloves to bed stops the accidental scratching while sleeping.

Yes, eczema flare-ups commonly intensify at night due to changes in body temperature and moisture loss. A dermatologist can prescribe a suitable antihistamine or a heavier nighttime emollient to help you sleep better.

It is actually a nightmare at night, yaar. I used to wake up with scratch marks every morning. Now I strictly moisturize right before hitting the bed and keep the AC at a comfortable temp so sweating doesn't trigger it.

Same here, it literally starts itching the second I lie down to scroll on my phone. I have started keeping my moisturizer on my nightstand so I can slather it on whenever it starts acting up.
