Is eczema raised?

My skin has these rough, bumpy patches that are red and flaky. They're not completely flat like a regular rash. I'm trying to figure out what it is. Is eczema raised, or is it typically smooth?

Yes, eczema patches can sometimes look raised and bumpy, especially when they are inflamed or scratched. Try to keep the area moisturized and avoid touching it.

I totally get it, when the skin feels raised and rough, it can make you feel super anxious and uncomfortable. It is a very common reaction when the eczema flare-up is active. Just try to avoid scratching it and get a doctor to take a look.

Yes, the patches can become raised and quite dry. My elders always advised applying pure coconut oil to soften the rough skin, which does help. However, for the proper treatment of raised skin, consulting a dermatologist is the safest path.

Eczema can present as raised, dry patches on the skin. Since autoimmune and skin issues can sometimes be linked to other health conditions like thyroid imbalances, it is always a good idea to get proper blood tests and consult a doctor for a complete checkup.

Yes, active eczema can absolutely feel raised, bumpy, and rough to the touch. It is just your skin reacting to inflammation, so please don't panic. Apply a cool compress to soothe it and see a dermatologist for a proper soothing cream.
