Is eczema an autoimmune disease?

I've been diagnosed with eczema, and I also have another autoimmune condition. I'm curious if eczema itself is an autoimmune disease, meaning my immune system is attacking my skin?

My elders always said skin issues are due to internal body heat, but my doctor explained that eczema is actually linked to an overactive immune response, though not technically classified as a pure autoimmune disease. I always trust the doctor's explanation for these things.

Agree with the medical view, it's more about immune system dysfunction. Keeping stress levels low really helps manage the flare-ups.

It is related to your immune system's hyper-reactivity. I've found that regular low-intensity exercise like a 40-minute walk helps lower overall body inflammation, which in turn keeps my skin much calmer. Just check with your doctor before starting any routine.

Whether it is autoimmune or not, the main issue is that the skin gets incredibly dry and irritated. Instead of worrying about big medical terms, just focus on simple solutions like switching to a mild, cheap soap-free cleanser and applying Vaseline.

Hey, don't stress too much about these heavy scientific words like autoimmune! It's just your immune system being a little too sensitive. Just keep your favorite heavy moisturizer close by, drink your water, and take it easy!
