Is eczema always itchy?

My eczema usually gets super itchy, especially at night. But sometimes I get a patch that's red but doesn't itch much. Is eczema always itchy, or can you have it without the itching sensation?

Almost always, yes. Itchiness is the main symptom of eczema, and sometimes the itch starts even before the rash appears. My main tip is to never scratch with nails—instead, gently pat the area or apply a cold compress to calm the sensation.

Yes, the itchiness is usually there and it can disturb your peace of mind. When the urge to scratch is very high, I sit quietly and do five minutes of deep breathing. It really helps calm the nervous system and reduces the itchy feeling.

Usually it is very itchy, which can make you feel restless. When my skin acts up, I find that going for a brisk walk in the cool evening air distracts my mind from the itch. Just make sure you wear loose, breathable cotton clothes so sweat doesn't trigger it more.

Oh god, yes, it gets super itchy, especially after I eat spicy biryani or oily parathas! I don't know if it's just me, but high-sodium foods make my skin feel so restless. Keeping a cold water bottle handy to press against the skin helps me survive.

Always itchy? Yes, especially at 3 AM when you are trying to sleep! It feels like a conspiracy by my own skin to keep me awake. Honestly, keeping my moisturizer in the fridge and applying it cold before bed is the only way I get any sleep.
