Is dandruff seborrheic dermatitis?

My barber said my dandruff looks a bit severe and suggested it might be something called seborrheic dermatitis. Are dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis the same thing?

Seborrheic dermatitis is a more severe form of dandruff. So while related, it's not exactly the same. It often needs more specific treatment.

They are related, but not always the same thing. Dandruff is a milder form of seborrheic dermatitis. Don't try to self-diagnose based on internet articles. A dermatologist is the only one who can properly tell you the difference and prescribe the right treatment.

OMG, I totally panicked when I read about seborrheic dermatitis and thought I had some terrible skin disease! Turns out, it's like a spectrum. Dandruff is just the mildest form. So yes, they are related, but it's not always super severe. Relax, it's treatable.

Essentially, dandruff is considered a mild form of seborrheic dermatitis. They both involve the same fungus and inflammatory response, but seborrheic dermatitis is typically more severe, with more redness, scaling, and sometimes even a greasy appearance. A dermatologist can confirm which one you have and the appropriate treatment.

So, like, basically dandruff is a mild type of seborrheic dermatitis. If it gets really bad, with lots of redness and oiliness, then it's proper seborrheic dermatitis. Don't stress too much about the big words, just know if it's bothering you, a doc can help!

Haan, kind of! Dandruff is actually like a very mild version of seborrheic dermatitis. If your scalp is just flaky, it's dandruff. But agar bahut redness, oiliness, aur badi patches hain, then it's usually proper seborrheic dermatitis. Doc ko dikhaoge toh better hai, na?

I had mild dandruff, then it got worse and my doc said it was seborrheic dermatitis! So I think dandruff can be a symptom or a milder version of it. It involved more redness and itching for me. Special medicated shampoo helped me recover.
