Is dandruff dead skin cells?

I've been noticing small white flakes in my hair, especially on dark clothes. My friend said it's just dead skin cells coming off. Is that actually true, or is there more to it?

While dandruff does consist of dead skin cells, it's not *just* that. It's often a complex interaction of factors, including the overgrowth of a yeast-like fungus (Malassezia), excess oil production, and inflammation, which leads to accelerated shedding and clumping of these cells. For a proper diagnosis and treatment, a dermatologist is recommended.

Haan beta, some of it is indeed dead skin cells. Our body is always making new skin. But when it's dandruff, it means the skin is shedding too fast, often because of some oiliness or a small germ. A good oil massage and regular hair wash with reetha can help with this.

Yes, part of it is dead skin cells, but in dandruff, these cells shed much faster and stick together, making flakes. My son had it bad, and the doctor explained it's also due to a fungus that thrives on the scalp oil, accelerating this shedding. So, proper anti-dandruff shampoo helps clear those extra dead cells.

Yes, it is dead skin cells, but usually, they are shed in larger, more noticeable flakes. This happens because of a fungus and oil on the scalp. Knowing it's not just normal dry skin helps you buy the right medicated shampoo, so you don't waste money on products that won't work.

Oh, so it is dead skin cells? I always thought it was just dirt or something. But if it's dead skin, does that mean everyone has dandruff in a way, or is it only when it gets severe?

Indeed, those visible flakes are a form of dead skin cells. Our body is always renewing itself. With dandruff, this renewal is a bit imbalanced. Take gentle care of your body, including your scalp, and maintain a positive spirit. Inner peace often reflects on outer health.

Yes, those flakes you see are indeed dead skin cells from your scalp. Everyone sheds skin, but with dandruff, this process becomes much faster and more visible, often due to an oily scalp and a yeast. It's a common condition, nothing to be overly concerned about if you manage it.
