Is coughing a sign of asthma?

I've been having these coughing fits, especially at night or when I exercise, and it feels like my chest tightens. My doctor mentioned checking for asthma. Is coughing a sign of asthma?

I recently had a dry cough that wouldn't go away for two months, especially at night. I finally saw a pulmonologist who diagnosed it as cough-variant asthma. Once I started using the prescribed inhaler, the cough completely disappeared, so it could definitely be asthma.

Bro, I have had asthma since childhood and a dry, hacking cough is definitely one of the main signs for me, especially when the weather changes. If you are also wheezing or feeling tightness in your chest when you run, you should get a lung function test done.

While diet and clean warm liquids can soothe a raw throat, chronic coughing can indeed point to asthma or allergies. If you are experiencing serious symptoms like severe breathlessness or chest tightness, please see a doctor immediately. Do not try to self-manage breathing difficulties at home.

I panicked completely last winter thinking I had chronic asthma because I couldn't stop coughing. But it turned out to be just a temporary allergy to dust from nearby construction. It went away with normal anti-allergics, so don't worry, it might not be asthma at all.

I have been dealing with asthma for over 15 years now. Yes, a persistent night cough is a classic sign, but you can only confirm it with a doctor's test. My tip is to keep your bedroom free of dust and heavy carpets, and avoid cold drinks until you get a proper diagnosis.

Actually yaar, with the pollution levels in Pune these days, everyone is coughing! It could just be a dust allergy or bronchitis, not necessarily asthma. But if you feel like you can't catch your breath, please go see a chest specialist instead of ignoring it.

It can be, especially if you get it during seasonal changes or when you sweep the house! 🧹 But don't worry, asthma is very manageable these days. Just consult a doctor and get a simple spirometry test done to be absolutely sure! 👍

My asthma was misdiagnosed as a simple cold for a long time, which eventually led to a severe attack where I had to be hospitalized. Please do not ignore a persistent cough, especially if it gets worse when you lie down. Go to a good physician and get your lungs checked properly.
