Is cough a sign of cancer?

I've had a persistent cough for a few weeks now, and it's not going away. My aunt recently had a cancer scare, and now I'm worried. Is a cough a sign of cancer?

I also have a dry cough that is not going away for a week now and reading about this online is making me very scared. Does anyone know if pollution in cities can cause a long-lasting cough too? I hope it is just a normal allergy.

Most coughs are just due to seasonal changes or pollution, so do not fear the worst immediately. You can try drinking warm water with ginger and honey in the morning to soothe your throat. But if the cough persists for more than three weeks, you must visit a doctor for a proper checkup.

Haan yaar, internet par search karo toh sardi-khansi ko bhi log pata nahi kya dikha dete hain. Aisa kuch nahi hota, cough toh aam baat hai na badalte mausam mein. Agar khansi ke saath khoon aa raha ho ya bahut heavy chest pain ho, tabhi turant doctor ke paas jana chahiye.

I totally understand why you are asking this, because whenever I cough, my mind also goes to the worst-case scenario and I start Googling. It causes so much anxiety! Try to relax, it is highly likely just a viral cough, but booking a quick doctor's appointment will definitely give you peace of mind.

Since I have diabetes, I have to be very careful with any infection because my healing is slower. A persistent cough should not be ignored, but jump-starting to thoughts of cancer is unnecessary. Please see a physician and get your chest checked rather than worrying at home.

Please don't search your symptoms on the internet, it always shows the scariest things! 🙈 Most of the time it's just a common cold or dust allergy. Just take some steam and consult a local doctor to clear your mind! Stay positive! ✨

I used to suffer from chronic bronchitis and tried every home remedy from turmeric milk to tulsi leaves. A cough is usually just your lungs clearing out dust or phlegm. However, if you have severe symptoms like difficulty breathing, chest pain, or coughing up blood, please don't wait at home—go see a doctor immediately.
