Is cottage cheese bad for diabetics?

My husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year, and we're trying to adjust his diet. We usually eat a lot of paneer at home, but I'm not sure if cottage cheese is good or bad for diabetics. Should we avoid it completely?

My son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, so I track every single gram of protein and carbs he eats. Paneer or cottage cheese has actually been a lifesaver for us because it doesn't cause sudden sugar spikes. Just buy the low-fat version and keep an eye on the portion size during dinners.

As a vegetarian, finding good low-carb protein sources is always a challenge. Cottage cheese is great because it has a low glycemic index and high protein content. Just be careful to read the labels for sodium levels if you are buying store-bought cottage cheese instead of fresh homemade paneer.

I have tried everything from methi seeds to bitter gourd juice to manage my sugar. Honestly, adding cottage cheese to my breakfast has been one of the best practical decisions. It keeps you full for a long time, but make sure you are not buying brands with added starch or preservatives.

Look, paneer is absolutely fine for diabetes, don't overcomplicate it. The main thing to watch out for is how much oil and butter you are using to cook it. Keep it simple, grill it lightly with normal spices, and it will actually help you control your appetite.

Getting HbA1c tests done every three months can get quite expensive over time, so managing sugar through diet is very practical. Making cottage cheese at home from low-fat milk is super cheap and much safer than buying costly packaged diet foods. It saves money on both grocery bills and doctor visits!

I always tell people that cottage cheese is actually a very friendly option for diabetic diets. The protein and fat in it slow down the absorption of any carbs you eat along with it. Just track your overall calorie intake and do a quick blood sugar test two hours after eating to see how your body reacts.
