Is cornmeal good for diabetics?

My father recently got diagnosed with diabetes and we're trying to figure out the best diet for him. I heard cornmeal might be a good option for making rotis, but I want to be sure.

Cornmeal is moderate in carbs, so you have to be careful with portion sizes. If your doctor allows, doing a 15-minute walk right after eating can help manage any potential blood sugar spikes.

If you are replacing white flour with cornmeal thinking it is a magic cure, you might be disappointed! It is still mostly carbs, so just treat it as a rare treat rather than your daily breakfast.

Our elders always preferred whole grains like ragi or jowar over cornmeal for keeping body sugar in check. However, every individual's system is different, so please consult your doctor before modifying your diet.

I used to panic completely even if my dad ate a single corn roti, thinking his sugar would touch 400. Later, we realized that eating it with lots of green vegetables and curd kept his readings perfectly normal. No need to stress, just manage the plate ratio.

Haan, cornmeal thoda tricky ho sakta hai. Makki ka atta sugar levels ko tezi se bada sakta hai na, toh isme thoda methi ya palak mila kar khao toh behtar hai.

I agree that cornmeal needs caution. It has a medium-to-high glycemic index, so it is better to consume it in very small quantities.

Dekho, sugar badhane wali cheezo se thoda door hi raho. Cornmeal me kaafi carbohydrate hota hai. Iske peeche bhaagne se accha hai ki aap daliya ya chana atta ka istemal karein.
