Is core sleep good?

Been feeling tired lately even after sleeping. Someone told me about 'core sleep' being important. Is core sleep really that good for you, like more restorative than other types?

Yes, core sleep is definitely good! It actually makes up the largest part of your night's rest. I always worry if I am not getting enough of it, but apparently, it is vital for brain maintenance and daily cognitive functioning. Just try to get 7-8 hours in total.

I just bought a fitness band and it says my 'core sleep' was 4 hours last night. Is that a good amount? I'm still trying to understand if core sleep is the same as deep sleep or if I should try to get more of it.

Core sleep is simply the term modern smartwatches use to describe light and moderate sleep stages. It is highly necessary, but if you are experiencing chronic daytime fatigue, don't rely on app data. Go to a good hospital and consult a sleep specialist for a proper diagnostic sleep study.

Haha, yes, core sleep is absolutely good! Unless you are planning to stay awake like a vampire, you need it. It basically keeps your brain from crashing like an old Windows PC, so embrace those hours under the blanket!

In our times we didn't have these fancy terms, we just called it a good night's rest. Yes, any sleep where your body relaxes is good. If you struggle to sleep peacefully, try drinking a cup of warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg before bed, it is an excellent traditional remedy.

Core sleep is perfectly normal and healthy, but trackers can sometimes be inaccurate. If you are waking up with headaches, gasping for air, or feeling exhausted daily despite 'good' core sleep on your app, please get yourself checked for sleep apnea immediately.
