Is colon cancer painful?

My neighbour has been complaining of severe stomach pain, and the doctor is investigating for colon issues. I'm wondering if colon cancer is typically a painful condition.

Actually, my doctor explained that early-stage colon cancer is usually completely silent and painless. Pain, severe cramping, or obstruction typically only happen in later stages. This is why you cannot rely on 'pain' as a warning sign and must get regular screenings.

It is not always painful at first. If you have constant bloating or change in motions, don't wait for it to become painful. Getting a simple stool test done at a local lab is very cheap and can give you peace of mind early on.

Sometimes we ignore mild stomach aches thinking it is just gas and we drink ajwain water. But if there is persistent, heavy stomach pain that doesn't go away, home remedies won't work. It is very important to get a doctor to check it.

I was reading about this because my uncle had it. Apparently, in the early stages, there is almost no pain at all, which is why it is so tricky. Pain usually starts when the tumor grows larger, so waiting for pain is not a good idea.

Colon cancer can present without any pain initially, often showing only subtle signs like fatigue or blood in stool. If you are experiencing persistent abdominal discomfort or cramping, a gastroenterologist's evaluation is the only way to get a proper diagnosis.

It often starts without any pain, which is why keeping a very clean, high-fiber diet is so important to keep your gut functioning well. If you do experience unexplained stomach pain along with weight loss, please consult a specialist immediately.

I completely understand how terrifying it is to worry about every little stomach cramp and think the worst. While colon cancer is often painless in the beginning, any persistent abdominal discomfort should be evaluated by a doctor just to put your anxious mind at ease.
