Is coffee ok for kidney stones?
I had a kidney stone last year, and I'm trying to prevent another one. I like coffee, but someone told me it might be bad for stones. Can I still drink coffee, or should I stop?

Was actually reading up on this yesterday because my uncle has stone issues. Looks like black coffee in moderation might actually help some people because it increases urine output, but too much is bad because of the oxalate content. It's a bit confusing so better to get your stone type tested first.
I totally get how scary this is, when I had pain last year I was literally searching every single thing I ate or drank. Honestly, coffee can be tricky because it has oxalates but it is also a diuretic which makes you pee more. Just talk to your urologist once before cutting it off completely, the anxiety of getting another stone is the worst.
I have to be very careful with my diet due to diabetes, and kidney health is very important for us. When I asked my nephrologist, he said black coffee without sugar is okay in moderation, but keeping well hydrated with water is what actually prevents stone formation. Don't add heavy milk or sugar syrups to it.
Look, plain simple rule. Drink lots of normal water first, that is the main medicine for stones. One cup of coffee in the morning won't kill you, but don't drink 4-5 cups daily thinking it's fine. Go see a proper doctor and get an ultrasound done.
Oh I panicked so much when I had my 4mm stone and immediately stopped my morning filter coffee. But my doctor laughed and said one small cup daily won't harm me at all. Just keep drinking 3 liters of water throughout the day and you should be perfectly fine.
Haan, coffee limit mein thik hai par zyada mat peena na. Actually, water is the best thing for stones, mere papa ko doctor ne bola tha fluid intake badhao. Coffee ke chakkar mein liquid intake kam mat hone dena bas.
