Is cod liver oil blood thinner?

My doctor told me my blood is a bit thick, and I'm looking for natural ways to help. Someone mentioned cod liver oil. Does it act as a blood thinner, or is that just a myth?

With my thyroid issues, I have learned that anything we take can affect our blood and hormone levels. Cod liver oil does have mild blood-thinning properties due to the omega-3s. It is so important to get regular blood tests and keep your doctor in the loop before starting it.

Please don't take this lightly. I once ignored a minor bleeding issue while taking random supplements, thinking it was nothing, and ended up in the emergency room. Cod liver oil can definitely thin your blood, especially if you are already on other medications. Get a proper medical checkup immediately.

I am no medical expert, but I can share what happened with me. My doctor told me to stop taking my cod liver oil capsules two weeks before a minor dental surgery because he said it can increase bleeding. That is just my experience, so please consult your doctor for your safety.

If you are worried about blood thinning, the simplest thing is to write down all your current medicines and show them to your family doctor. Cod liver oil has omega-3 which can thin blood slightly, but a quick 5-minute chat with your local doc will clear all doubts without any expensive tests.

Yeah, it actually has mild blood-thinning effects because of the omega-3 fatty acids in it. I use it for joint pain, but I make sure not to take too much of it. If you have any upcoming surgery or are taking aspirin, definitely check with your doc first.
