Is coconut oil good for liver?

My doctor told me I have a slightly fatty liver during my last check-up. I've been trying to eat healthier. Is coconut oil beneficial for liver health, or should I avoid it?

I had some liver health worries recently and researched this quite a bit. Coconut oil has MCTs which are easier for the liver to process than some other fats, but at the end of the day, it's still highly saturated. It's better to use it very sparingly rather than thinking of it as a medicine.

I used to ignore my digestive issues and kept using heavy traditional oils, hoping they were healthy. By the time I went for a checkup, my liver enzymes were highly elevated. Please don't rely on self-treatment with coconut oil; get a proper liver function test first.

With my thyroid condition, my metabolism is slow and I have to monitor my cholesterol and liver enzymes regularly. High saturated fats like coconut oil can sometimes elevate cholesterol levels. I highly suggest getting regular lipid profiles and consulting your doctor before changing your cooking oil.

My physician explained that while coconut oil contains medium-chain fatty acids that go directly to the liver for energy, consuming large amounts can still contribute to fat accumulation in liver cells. He recommended using monounsaturated fats like olive oil for better overall liver and heart health.

I was diagnosed with mild fatty liver two years ago. I completely cut down on heavy fats, including coconut oil, and switched to a high-fiber diet with daily walking. My liver health improved significantly; realistic lifestyle changes and weight management work much better than any specific oil.
