Is cardiopulmonary arrest a heart attack?

My neighbour had a sudden health scare last week, and the doctor said something about 'cardiopulmonary arrest'. Is that the same thing as a heart attack? I'm worried about my own heart health.

No, they are different. A heart attack is when blood supply gets blocked, but cardiopulmonary arrest means both breathing and heart function have suddenly stopped. Both are massive emergencies, so always call an ambulance immediately.

Don't panic reading all these medical terms, but understand that cardiopulmonary arrest is much more critical because the heart stops beating completely. Always keep a list of emergency cardiac ambulance numbers handy. Take care of yourself and your family.

Please never ignore any chest discomfort. I thought my chest pain was simple acidity and delayed going to the clinic, which led to severe complications. Sudden cardiac events are life-threatening, so get any symptom checked by a doctor immediately.

Think of it this way: a heart attack is a plumbing issue (blocked blood flow), but cardiopulmonary arrest is an electrical issue where the heart stops beating and breathing stops. If you see someone collapse, call the hospital and start CPR immediately.

They are not the same, though a severe heart attack can cause cardiac arrest. Having high blood pressure, I always keep my doctor's number saved and get routine checkups done. Managing lifestyle and stress is crucial to prevent these major events.
