Is cancer more common now than 100 years ago?

I remember when I was young, you rarely heard about cancer, but now it seems like everyone knows someone who has it. My son says it's because people live longer now. Is cancer more common now than it was 100 years ago?

Yeah, it definitely seems way more common now. Back then, people didn't even have proper diagnostic tools to know what they died of, but modern pollution and junk food are definitely making it worse today.

Statistically yes, because life expectancy has increased and we have advanced screening technology now. Earlier, people died of simple infections before reaching the age where cancer develops. Don't panic, just focus on regular health checks.

My grandfather used to say people lived healthier lives 100 years ago with pure food. While that is true, my doctor friend explained that better medical technology means we detect cases today that would have gone unnoticed in the past.

It is more common, which is why financial planning for health is so critical now compared to our ancestors' times. Regular cancer screening tests can be costly, but catching it early saves lakhs of rupees in treatment later.

Yes, our connection with nature and calm minds has decreased over the century, leading to more physical ailments like cancer. Practicing daily yoga and pranayama helps clean the body of modern toxins that cause these cell mutations.

Yes, it's more common due to industrialization, tobacco, and processed foods. But let's not forget we also have the best medical facilities in human history to fight it today.

It is a mix of both increased lifespan and better diagnostic reporting, alongside modern environmental risk factors. Rather than worrying about historical comparisons, the best clinical advice is to maintain a healthy lifestyle and go for age-appropriate screenings.

Modern stress, poor sleep, and blood pressure issues are definitely higher now, and so is cancer. Just like how we keep a constant eye on our BP, we must go for timely health checkups to manage modern health risks proactively.

I was researching this and read that because people live much longer now, cancer rates have naturally gone up since it's mostly an age-related disease. Plus, 100 years ago, there were no MRI or CT scans to even diagnose it.

I totally get it, seeing so many cancer cases around us today is really scary and makes us feel like things are worse now. But remember, we also have much better treatment options and survival rates today than they did 100 years ago.
