Is cancer hereditary?

My cousin's mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and now everyone in our family is worried about getting it too. We have a family history of some illnesses. Is cancer generally considered hereditary, something that passes down through generations?

See, only a very small percentage of cancers, like maybe 5 to 10 percent, are actually hereditary. Most of it happens due to lifestyle, pollution, and aging. So don't sit and worry just because someone in the family had it, but do stay active and get regular checkups.

Not all cancers are passed down in families, actually most are not. Try not to worry too much and discuss this with a doctor who can explain genetic testing if you have a strong family history.

I used to ignore health signs thinking nothing would happen to me, which was a huge mistake. While most cancers aren't hereditary, some specific types can run in families. If you have multiple relatives who had it, please go get an early screening done rather than delaying like I did.

From what I read while munching on my snacks, only some gene mutations are hereditary, not the disease itself. Most cancers happen randomly as we grow older. So live your life, eat well, and don't stress yourself out thinking about genetics too much.

In my own family, my aunt had breast cancer but none of her daughters or sisters ever got it. The doctors told us back then that it was not the hereditary type. It varies a lot from case to case, so a specialist's opinion is best.

Genetic link is there for only about 5-10% of cases. The rest depends heavily on your daily environment, fitness level, and what you put in your body. Keeping a clean diet and exercising daily reduces risk majorly, regardless of family history.

Actually yaar, very few cancer cases are hereditary. Most of it is just random mutations or lifestyle stuff, so don't take tension. If you are really scared because of family history, you can get a gene test done to be absolutely sure.
