Is calamine good for eczema?

My son has eczema and his skin gets very dry and itchy. Someone suggested using calamine lotion, but I want to make sure it's safe for him. Is calamine good for eczema, or should I stick to his prescribed creams?

Calamine lotion is actually very drying, which can make eczema scaling worse. I go to a dermatologist at Apollo and they strictly advised using heavy moisturizers instead. Please consult a proper skin specialist before applying anything.

Haan yaar, calamine se thoda cooling feeling to aata hai, par skin bohot dry ho jati hai. Eczema mein skin dry nahi honi chahiye na. To behtar hai koi acchi intense moisturizing cream lagao doctor se pooch kar.

Beta, calamine cold cream jaisa lagta hai par eczema ke liye yeh thik nahi hai. Humare yahan toh log sarsone ka tel lagate hain, par doctor se puchna sabse badiya rahega taaki bimari badhe na.

I ignored my initial dry patches and kept applying over-the-counter calamine, which made my skin crack and caused a severe infection. Don't delay your visit to a dermatologist like I did. Get it checked properly.

Actually yaar, calamine is good for chickenpox or insect bites, but for eczema, it is too drying. Eczema needs a lot of hydration. Don't use it directly without a doctor's okay.

Instead of spending money on different lotions that might not work, it is better to budget for a proper dermatologist consultation. A single prescription cream might cost 300 rupees but will save you from buying five useless bottles of calamine.

With my PCOS, my skin is already very sensitive and prone to inflammation, so I am very cautious about what I apply. Calamine can sometimes irritate the skin barrier if it is already damaged. It is always safest to let a skin doctor guide you.
