Is caffeine bad for arthritis?

I've had arthritis for quite some time now, and the joint pain is really bothering me. My wife told me she read somewhere that caffeine can make arthritis worse. Is caffeine bad for arthritis, or can I still enjoy my morning filter coffee?

Yes, I also felt my joint pain got slightly worse when I drank too much strong coffee. It is better to observe how your body reacts to it.

Look, moderate caffeine is actually anti-inflammatory for some, but too much of it can dehydrate your joints and make things worse. Don't go cold turkey, just stick to one cup and see. If the pain increases, drop it immediately and talk to your ortho.

I am also quite new to managing this and just got diagnosed with early joint issues. Does anyone here know if black coffee is safer than milk coffee for swelling? I really want to find a safe way to keep my morning routine.

Oh god, living without my morning espresso sounds like a nightmare! But honestly, when my uncle cut down his tea and coffee intake, his knee inflammation actually got much better. Maybe try switching to green tea or a mild herbal tea for a week?

Please do not ignore early stiffness thinking it is just a normal tea-coffee reaction. I delayed my rheumatologist visit for months, blaming my diet, and ended up with severe joint damage. Get a proper blood test done immediately.

My mother has rheumatoid arthritis and she noticed that high caffeine triggers her flare-ups. She switched to warm turmeric milk at night and reduced her coffee to just a small cup in the afternoon. It really made a practical difference for her!

I can only speak from my own experience with joint pain over the last five years. When I drink more than two cups of tea, my hands feel much stiffer the next morning. Once I reduced the intake, the stiffness definitely felt lighter.
