Is bronchitis and asthma the same?

My son has chronic coughs and sometimes struggles with breathing. The doctor diagnosed him with bronchitis a few times, but I'm worried it might be asthma. Are bronchitis and asthma the same condition?

No, they are different conditions, though both affect your airways and cause coughing. Bronchitis is often a temporary infection, while asthma is a chronic issue. Please get a proper diagnosis from a pulmonologist to ensure you get the right treatment.

They are different. Bronchitis is usually an infection, while asthma is a long-term allergic response, so please see a doctor for the correct inhaler or medicine.

They are different; bronchitis is usually a chest infection. Once your doctor treats the acute infection, doing regular light cardio or breathing exercises really helps build lung capacity and prevents future congestion.

Dono alag hain babuji. Bronchitis toh thand ya infection se hota hai jo jaldi theek ho jata hai, par asthma purani bimari hai. Aap doctor babu ko dikhayein aur unhi ki suniye.

Though both cause breathing difficulty, acute bronchitis is temporary and asthma is a lifelong condition that comes in flare-ups. Trying to treat one as the other won't help. It is best to let a qualified doctor do a spirometry test and guide you.

My family physician explained that bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchial tubes, often due to a virus or smoking, while asthma is a chronic genetic/environmental sensitivity. While symptoms like wheezing overlap, their clinical management is totally distinct. Definitely consult a specialist.
