Is broken heart syndrome a heart attack?

My friend recently went through a very stressful event and later developed some chest pain. Her doctor mentioned 'broken heart syndrome,' and it sounded really serious. Is this the same as having a heart attack?

I know how terrifying it is to experience chest pain and worry if it's a heart attack. Broken heart syndrome is actually triggered by severe emotional stress and mimics a heart attack, but the arteries aren't blocked. Please go to the hospital immediately to get it checked, as any chest pain is a red flag.

Keeping the mind calm with deep breathing helps with emotional stress, but chest pain or breathlessness cannot be treated at home. Broken heart syndrome mimics a heart attack and needs instant medical attention. Please go to a hospital immediately.

They feel very similar, but broken heart syndrome is temporary heart muscle failure from stress, while a heart attack is due to blocked arteries. However, never try to guess the difference yourself. If you are active and suddenly feel chest tightness, get medical help immediately.

No, they are different, but the symptoms like chest pain feel exactly the same. Go to an emergency room immediately if you are experiencing this.

My father always says emotional shock can physically hurt the heart, which is true for broken heart syndrome. But doctors say it doesn't cause permanent damage like a real heart attack. Please consult a cardiologist immediately to run an ECG and be absolutely sure.

Don't panic, but take this seriously. While broken heart syndrome is usually temporary and caused by sudden stress, its symptoms are identical to a heart attack. You must go to a doctor or emergency room right away to get a proper diagnosis.
